Senate Will Not Recess Until Talks Resolved

They will be back in session on Monday.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Thursday that the chamber will be back in session Monday and he will not gavel out for the traditional summer recess.

Even after two weeks of negotiations, the parties have failed to come close to a deal on a coronavirus aid package that both sides deem critical for helping the nation cope with the continued outbreak.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said the two sides remain “trillions” of dollars apart. President Trump has indicated he might have to take some sort of executive action if a deal is not reached by this Friday.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For negotiators on both sides of the political spectrum to work in good faith toward a common resolution to giving more aid to families and workers during the coronavirus shutdowns.
  • For President Trump and those advising him as they consider an executive action that would bring financial relief.
  • For businesses struggling to reopen even with numerous restrictions being placed on them.
  • For an end to the coronavirus, and an economic rebound.
